This thread was archived. Please ask a new question if you need help. Now that adobe flash player is history I can’t play videos online that are not on youtube. I can still watch youtube videos. Is there a HTML5 video player or something else I can install on this old system that will work or is that not possible?

I know it’s an old system but it still does the job. I don’t know whether there are any other plugins that could help, or whether you’ll need to use an external player, for example, get the link to the video and feed it to VLC. This looks like a headache and probably beyond my computer skill level to try and do.

Is there definitely no alternative video player to replace Flash that works out of the box or with minimal easy changes with XP and FF The Adobe Primetime module doesn’t work. And I am not even joking. Flash is taken by quite big companies which need it, and they even wrote a browser to run it for more than a decate more. Aside of this peoples is transfering Flash player platform to WebASM platform which will practically making it work on all browsers and OS.

Went to Adobe website and downloaded the latest version of Flash has an icon in my Control Panel but it won’t shortcut just takes me to a settings dialog box that has no “start” button. W.M.P. 10 does not support files with a “.flv” extension.
